North Forest Beach Christmas Lights

Posted by Bill True on Wednesday, December 1st, 2010 at 6:40pm.

Dove Street in North Forest Beach is one of Hilton Head Island’s most spectacular streets, especially during the Christmas season when Dove and the adjoining streets sparkle with a brilliant display of holiday lights. More than a quarter-million white, colored, sparkling and blinking bulbs illuminate the night sky as wide-eyed children and their parents wait patiently to round the corner as car after car navigates the one-way streets at a snail’s pace, more than once, in order to savor the exceptional beauty of it all.

North Forest Beach is Hilton Head Island’s original beach community. In the 1950s, small bungalows dotted the streets which were in alphabetical order and named after sea birds. Today, larger and more expensive homes have been constructed and stand alongside the proud little bungalows. Many are investment properties, some are second homes and others are occupied by many of the island’s most well-known and respected business owners. Unlike many of the island’s private plantations, it is an ungated neighborhood with no golf course and no clubhouse—just the most breathtaking beach on the island!
