Homes, villas, condos and home sites within its sprawling 5,200 acres range from one-bedroom villas to multi-million dollar oceanfront estates. From cozy retro bungalows built in the 1970s to newly-constructed architectural masterpieces, homes in Sea Pines are as diverse as the shells on the beach. Each has its unique appearance and all blend with the natural surroundings. Mother Nature’s color palate, protected and promoted within the Resort, also dictates exterior color selection on all buildings and man-made structures.
The majority of properties are water-oriented, boasting ocean, sound, creek, marsh, and lagoon views; golf and wooded views, too, are plentiful with spectacular vistas across the fairways and greens of the resort’s three world-class golf courses. Real estate opportunities within Sea Pines abound for those who are seeking primary residence, second-home status, or investment property classification.
A Short History of Hilton Head Island’s First Resort
Development of Sea Pines Plantation (now The Sea Pines Resort) began in 1957. Charles Fraser, the man behind it all, was keenly aware of the special demands that the then-undeveloped island would require. At the time, the island consisted of hunting tracts, timberland and farmland. He saw more—he saw potential. The beautiful beaches, virgin pine forests and groves of massive live oak trees were just the beginning. Fraser, a young man of only 26, was armed with a vision, endless energy, investment dollars—and a primary luxury of yesteryear: air-conditioning. A master plan for the community was created, a bridge to the mainland was constructed and Sea Pines, the prototype of the modern resort community now copied around the world, was born.
Sea Pines Security Features
The island’s first security gate was installed at Sea Pines in 1967. The resort now has two “guard gates”—the main one on Greenwood Drive and the Beach Gate off South Forest Beach Drive. 24-hours security from Sea Pines Security is augmented, if needed, by the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Department. Security patrols the streets within the plantation on a regular basis, adding a layer of safety to the privacy and well-being of the plantation’s residents and visitors.
