Posted by Bill True on Thursday, April 17th, 2014 at 6:42pm.

What kid isn’t over-the-moon curious about critters of all types? If you’re bringing your family to spend a relaxing vacation in Hilton Head Island over the holidays there are some events the kids will want to take part in. We’ll start with a Meet and Greet with some Lowcountry Critters from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday, April 21 through Wednesday, April 23. This event promises to be a lot of fun for the kids.

Joe Maffo, with Critter Management, will bring some of his “friends” to the Coastal Discovery Museum so we can learn more about the alligators, snakes, turtles and other critters that share Hilton Head Island with us. Participants will have a chance to get up-close to an assortment of animals, learn about them and take plenty of photos. There will be no formal presentation; visitors can stop by an assortment of stations to meet and greet the different types of animals. This event is on a first come, first served basis. Admission Details: Adult $10, Child $5 (12 and under). The event is held at Coastal Discovery Museum, 70 Honey Horn Drive, Hilton Head Island. For questions about the program please call 843-689-6767 ext 223.

Keeping up with the theme of nature’s critters around Hilton Head, there will be a Fishing Camp for Kids from 12 to 3 p.m. on Friday, April 25. Children age 7-14 will love this interactive day camp being held at the Coastal Discovery Museum. Kids will learn all the basics of fishing, crabbing and shrimping. Why not let your kids discover the sport of fishing this spring. The program provides all the tools required to continue fishing for many years to come. The cost is $35 per child (ages 7-14) and reservations are required by calling 843-689-6767 ext 223. The event is held at Coastal Discovery Museum, 70 Honey Horn Drive, Hilton Head Island.
