Hilton Head Real Estate Blog

It’s Spring and it’s VERIZON HERITAGE time on Hilton Head Island. Sea Pines Resort is spirited and energetic, and real estate activity is bustling.  Harbour Town Golf Links, host to this PGA tournament, is full of life and ready for the social event of the year. Nature has blessed us with unmatched beauty, and Harbour Town, located in the heart of Sea Pines, is one of the world’s most famous marinas. The yacht basin, just steps away from the famed Golf Links, is encircled by villas, shops, and restaurants and is the hub of activity, making it the place to be! Sea Pines has been preparing for weeks and now everything is in place, including the weather, which scores a perfect 75 degrees with sunshine all around!
Harbour Town events include nightly entertainment at the Quarterdeck, both inside and out. Enjoy a memorable meal and watch the sunset over Calibogue Sound. You will want to make this your first and last stop after a day at the tournament. Remember to treat yourself to outdoor grilling and cocktails as dance bands perform under the Liberty Oak from 4:00 – 10:00 p.m. during the week of Heritage. And don’t forget the “Get Your Plaid On” beachwear contests to be held on the Lighthouse Pier, along with other fun competitions.
The Verizon Heritage brings with it so much celebration and activity. Islanders open their homes to family and friends, short-term rental homes and villas are often booked a year in advance, and restaurants are brimming with guests like no other time of year. Yes, the golf brings them in. However, it’s the real estate—the homes, villas, views, weather, landscape, beautiful architecture, amenities and way of life that makes them yearn to come back year after year. The passionate desire to own a second home or to retire here becomes a single focus for many. That’s where my job begins.
I have lived on Hilton Head Island for 25 years and I have sold real estate for 25 years. It is my passion. Real estate on this Island is unique and wonderful. Homes and villas blend in with the natural surroundings, no building is over five stories, the roads and walkways are built to curve around the majestic, draping trees and the white sand beach is always there when you need a respite. It’s easy to love the island. I can help you live it.

Hilton Head Island has hosted the Verizon Heritage in Sea Pines since its first tournament in 1969. That year, Arnold Palmer won and Sea Pines was introduced to the world. This PGA tournament continues to be a highlight of the year for both Sea Pines and Hilton Head and brings our little piece of paradise to the forefront of the international stage. More than $84 million is pumped into the South Carolina economy annually and the tournament has provided almost $20 million to those in need, as well as scholarship money to college-bound students and support to area non-profits.

BillTrue.com and Lancaster Real Estate Sales welcome the more than 135,000 tournament goers on the island during the week of April 12 – 18. I am confident you will enjoy all that Sea Pines, Palmetto Dunes, Shipyard, Forest Beach and Folly Field has to offer.

The Hilton Head Area Association of Realtors has awarded Bill True the Silver Service Award for his 25+ years as an Island Realtor.  True is co-owner of Lancaster Real Estate Sales and specializes in home, villa and lot sales in Sea Pines, Forest Beach and Palmetto Dunes.  True graduated from the University of Texas and earned an MBA from Texas State.  He has been an island resident since 1985.

The first few days prior to and following the new year are a time to ponder what the coming months will bring.  As I enjoy another Sea Pines sunset, I reflect on the events of the past year.  My family and I are grateful that we are safe from harm.  We give thanks for our loved ones, our good health, our true friends, and we pray for continued strength--for ourselves and others-- as we all overcome (and benefit from) the challenges put before us during these trying times.  We are also thankful that we live on such a blessed island.
